Chinese Merchant Seamen

During the Second World War, about 20,000 Chinese sailors served in the British Merchant Navy, risking their lives and helping to keep vital sea routes open. It's not certain how many of them were killed but it was probably at least 2,000. After the war, many of them were rounded up by the authorities and deported - even though some of them had married Englishwomen.
