A famous woman swimmer

Nancy Edberg (1832-1892) was a famous woman swimmer. She was a Swedish woman and she opened the first swimming baths for women in 1847 and held the first swimming exhibition by women in 1856. She did a great deal to popularise women’s swimming. But the first swimming competition for women only was held in Scotland in 1892.
